Privacy Policy
The short version
Our apps run entirely on your device. We don’t have servers that store your information, and nothing you do in a cmd64 app is sent to us.
- No accounts, no sign-ups, no email address required.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking SDKs, no cookies.
- Your progress and settings are saved on your device and stay there.
- We have never sold or shared personal information, and we hold none to sell.
- Uninstall the app and the data goes with it.
Who this policy covers
This policy is published by cmd64 (“we”, “us”), based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It covers the mobile and desktop applications we publish, including:
- The Hunch offline
- Quant Academy offline
- Wake Math offline
- Every other app published under the cmd64 name
Throughout this document, “the app” means whichever cmd64 app brought you here. Each of these apps is designed to work offline: the app does its work on your device, without an account and without talking to a server of ours.
This policy does not cover the cmd64 website, our client work, or third-party services you reach by following a link out of an app. Those are separate, and are governed by their own terms.
If we release an app that needs to collect something — a sync feature, for example — that app will ship its own additional privacy notice, shown to you before the feature is used. This policy is the floor, not the ceiling: no cmd64 app collects less clearly than what is described here.
Information we collect
None. We do not collect, receive, store, transmit, sell, rent, or share any personal information through our apps. There is no server to send it to.
Because “we don’t collect anything” is easy to say and harder to prove, here is the full inventory, spelled out category by category:
| Category | Status |
|---|---|
| Name, email address, phone number | Not collected |
| Account or login credentials | Not collected |
| Precise or approximate location | Not collected |
| Contacts, calendar, photos, files | Not collected |
| Camera or microphone input | Not collected |
| Advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID) | Not collected |
| Usage or behavioural analytics | Not collected |
| Crash logs and diagnostics | Not collected |
| Device identifiers, IP address | Not collected |
| Cookies and web trackers | Not collected |
| Payment or card details | Not collected |
Our apps contain no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting kits. We have no partners who receive data about you from us, because we send no data about you anywhere.
Data stored on your device
The apps do save things — they just save them locally, in the app’s own private storage area on your device. Depending on the app, that can include your progress and scores, practice history, difficulty and preference settings, saved sessions or notes you have written, and whether you have dismissed a particular hint.
This is ordinary app data, the same kind a calculator or a notebook app keeps. It sits in the sandboxed storage your operating system gives the app, it is not readable by other apps, and it never leaves the device by our doing.
You are in control of it:
- Where an app offers a reset or clear-data option, use it to erase everything in one step.
- On Android, Settings → Apps → [app] → Storage → Clear data wipes it.
- On iOS, deleting the app removes it, as does Offload App followed by a delete.
- Uninstalling the app deletes the data. We keep no copy, so there is nothing for you to ask us to erase and nothing for us to restore.
Backups and device transfers
One honest caveat to “it stays on your device”: if you have turned on device backup, your operating system may include app data in that backup. On iOS this is iCloud Backup; on Android it is Google’s Auto Backup. The same applies when you restore a new phone from an old one.
That copying is done by Apple or Google under your own account settings, not by us — we never see it, and we cannot read it. It is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy or Google’s Privacy Policy. If you would rather app data were never backed up, you can exclude the app in your device’s backup settings.
App permissions
Our apps ask for as little as possible, and most ask for nothing at all. Where an app does request a system permission, it is because a feature you asked for needs it, and the result stays on the device.
Two common cases:
- Notifications — used only for reminders you set up yourself, such as a daily practice nudge. Scheduled locally by your device; we send no push messages and run no push server.
- Storage or file access — used only when you explicitly export or import a file, and only for the file you pick.
You can refuse or revoke any permission in your device settings at any time. Refusing one disables the feature that needs it; the rest of the app keeps working.
App stores and payments
You get our apps from the Apple App Store, Google Play, or another distribution platform. Those platforms run their own accounts, and they collect their own information about downloads, purchases, subscriptions, refunds, reviews, and crashes — independently of us, under their own privacy policies.
If an app offers a paid version or an in-app purchase, the payment is handled entirely by the store. We never see or receive your card number, billing address, or payment credentials; the store tells us only aggregate, anonymised sales figures, which identify nobody.
Store-level crash and performance reports, where a platform generates them, reach us as anonymised aggregate statistics through that platform’s developer console. They are produced by the platform, not by any code we ship, and you control them in your device’s analytics-sharing settings.
When you contact support
The one moment we hold any personal information is when you choose to write to us. If you email contact@cmd64.com, we receive whatever you put in the message: your email address, your name if you sign it, and any details or screenshots you attach.
We use that only to answer you and to fix the problem you reported. We do not add you to a mailing list, build a profile, or pass your message to anyone else. Support correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful for support history and then deleted; you can ask us to delete your emails sooner and we will.
Please don’t send sensitive personal information in a support email — we don’t need it to help you.
Children’s privacy
Our apps are general-audience software and are not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — and because we collect no personal information from anyone, there is nothing we could collect from a child either.
The apps contain no advertising, no social features, no chat, no user-to-user contact, and no external links a child could be tracked through. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, contact us at contact@cmd64.com and we will delete it.
Your rights
Privacy law gives you rights over the personal data a company holds about you. We want to be straightforward about how those apply here: we hold no personal data about you, so for our apps there is nothing to access, correct, port, or erase. Your app data is already entirely in your hands, on your own device, and you can delete it at any time without asking us (see §03).
Where we do hold something — support emails you have sent us — you can exercise every one of these rights by writing to contact@cmd64.com. We respond within 30 days and never charge for a request.
-
GDPR / UK GDPR
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our lawful basis for handling support email is legitimate interest in answering you. You may complain to your local supervisory authority.
-
CCPA / CPRA — California
Right to know, delete, correct, and opt out. We have not sold or shared personal information in the past 12 months, and we do not sell or share it now. There is no financial incentive programme, so you are never penalised for exercising a right.
-
DPDP Act 2023 — India
Rights to access, correction, erasure, grievance redressal, and nomination. Grievances go to the contact address in §12 and are acknowledged within 30 days.
-
Everywhere else
If your country grants you a data-protection right that isn’t named here, write to us and we will honour it on the same terms.
Because we operate from India, any support email you send is read there. Our apps themselves transfer no data internationally, since they transfer no data at all.
Security
The strongest security measure we can offer is the one built into how the apps work: data that is never transmitted cannot be intercepted, and data we never hold cannot be leaked in a breach of ours. There is no cmd64 database of users to attack.
That shifts the remaining risk onto the device itself, where you have the controls. We recommend keeping a screen lock and device encryption turned on, keeping your operating system current, and installing our apps only from official app stores — builds from anywhere else are not ours and we cannot vouch for what has been added to them.
Support email is transported over standard encrypted mail protocols and access is restricted to the people who answer it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as apps change or as the law does. The version number and effective date at the top of this page always tell you which revision you are reading.
If a change is material — in particular, if any cmd64 app ever begins collecting data it does not collect today — we will say so clearly in the app itself before the change takes effect, and we will ask for your consent where consent is required. We will not quietly start collecting data under a policy you already agreed to.
Continuing to use an app after a revised policy takes effect means you accept it.
